How deep should my concrete base be?

To start with, you should make sure the ground level is stable, filling any soft spots with aggregate before filling with roughly 75-100mm of well compacted type1 hardcore. Lay a DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) on top of the hardcore followed by 75-100mm of concrete. This would form a suitable base for a domestic patio area. This concrete base should be laid to a 1:80 to 1:60 fall to allow for drainage and Millboard’s range of pedestals will accommodate this.
